President William Ruto has on Wednesday promised to implement the collection of the Housing Levy fund despite the court terming it unconstitutional.
According to the President, he will use all means at his disposal to ensure that the Housing Levy fund is implemented. Speaking at the Diaspora Investment Conference in Nairobi, the President used the phrase “whatever it takes.”
“I am telling you this time round, I am implementing it. And I am so determined because we must do it. Korea did it, Singapore did it, Malaysia did it, and that is why they are ahead of us. We know what we must do but we cannot gather the courage to do it but this time round, whatever it takes we are going to implement it.”

The President put the blame on the opposition for the stagnation of some of key issues that he says will change this country. In particular addressing Raila Odinga on his constant criticism on Housing Levy despite having the same approach in his election manifesto.
This housing project was on the manifesto of Kenya Kwanza. The housing project, complete with percentages of the levy, was also in the Azimio manifesto, but when it comes to the implementation, that is where the devil lives.
Using the Diaspora Investment Conference, the President urged kenyans living in Diaspora to help in contributions towards the levy for affordable housing. He said the initiative will create thousands of jobs for their brothers and sisters in the country.
“When some people say we must get rid of housing fund, many people step forward and say, look, for the first time we have jobs, for the first time we can feed our families, for the first time we have an opportunity to own a house.”
