Mr Ibu family and Cause of Death Revealed
Renowned veteran actor John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr Ibu, has passed away leaving behind a family with cause of death being due to health complications stemming from a prolonged battle with blood clotting in his leg.
The beloved actor breathed his last on Saturday, March 2, while receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Lagos state after battling persistent issues with blood clotting, attributed to diseased blood vessels, and struggled with various health challenges over the years.
This comes after the actor sought financial assistance in October 2023 to seek medication abroad, an option that doctors later advised against due to the nature of his illness that made him unfit to travel.

Since then, his health has been deteriorating forcing him to undergo an amputation on his leg on November 2023 to try and save his life. His family said that it was the only option left to save the life of the actor.
“He had constant clotting of the blood in his leg [diseased blood vessels] and other health challenges posing a risk to his life, therefore the need for the amputation.”
According to his former manager Emeka Chochoo, the amputation became necessary because of an infection of the arteries at the ankle that was not detected early enough.
The actor who was 62 years of age at the time of his death has left a mark on the Nigerian film industry due to his exceptional character in movies and comedy skits that will forever remain legendary.

Mr Ibu leaves behind a family, His wife, Stella Maris Okafor and three children Emmanuel Mandela Okafor, Chelsea Okafor and Jay Jay Okafor.
Many fans across the world continue to share their condolences to the family as plans for his last ceremony are underway.
