Police have raided a church suspected to be selling bhang to congregants during church services. In the raid, the police nabbed 26 sacks stuffed with bhang worth 6 Million. The police were working on a lead according to reports.
The raid led to several suspects being arrested in connection with the discovery. With the number yet to be officially known. The police however traced different bhand hideouts within the premises of the church. According to the police, majority of suspects are on the run.
“Strangely, we have learnt that this church is selling bhang to its congregants. We have captured a number of suspects, but the major culprits are on the run. One gunny bag has stones. I hear the jargon the church members use for bhang is ‘stones’. You can thus imagine the weight of the bhang we have seized.”
The police have confirmed that the hunt for the pastor, the staff and congregants involved in the trade. The church was also accused of selling stolen items. It’s confirmed that the church is just but a cover of negative activities being conducted in the church. Police are yet to uncover more.
“We know that these suspects work in cahoots with residents, but we applaud concerned members of the public who raised the alarm. We will liaise with them to track the church attendees who are well-known in the society.”
The police have taken the recovered items and bhang to act as exhibit to be presented in court in a bid to ensure those involved are punished according to the law. It’s however unclear how the bhang will be destroyed.
This has been a conversation whenever such incidents occur as police normally light the sacks up. But this has been received in a not so good manner by the public who claim torching the bhang serves the purpose it’s supposed to. The police have said they’ll ask the court for guidance on how to destroy the sacks.
