A police officer attached to Kamukunji Police Station was swept away by floods on Sunday night while rescuing stranded kenyans.
Reports indicate that the police officer had rescued four people, three women and a child from their business stalls before he was swept away by the floods that have caused havoc in Nairobi County.
Moments before the incident, the officer successfully rescued the four who waere trapped between a slab connecting their stalls and the pedestrian walkway and were unable to get from the stalls to safety.

However, upon a successful rescue mission by the officer, he attempted to make a return to the stalls to help in locking them for safety overnight.
“After the successful rescue, the officer who was deployed together with them went back to assist in locking the stalls when suddenly the remaining holding slab caved in.”
Unfortunately, the slab caved in, and a s a result, the officer was swept away by the raging waters before he could get back.
According to a police report seen by NewsProjector, the officer’s rifle (AK47) was also swept away by the floods while it was loaded with ammunition and is yet to be found together with his body.

“As a result, the officer was swept away by the raging waters together with his rifle AK 47 serial Number loaded with 30 RDS of 7.62*39mm special.”
Reports indicate that atleast four people have been killed so far in separate incidents within Nairobi as a result of floods that have brought the city to a stand stil.
Areas in which floods were experienced included sections of the Central Business District, Westlands, and Eastleigh among others including the Nairobi Expressway.
