Bomet County Commissioner Ahmed Omar has confirmed that youths who heckled President William Ruto in Bomet have been arrested.
According to the County Commissioner, two suspects have already been arrested as more others including top politicians in the county are being hunted down in a bid to tame heckling in President Ruto’s rallies.
This comes after rowdy youths heckled Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok when he was given an opportunity to address the crowd, a move that irritated the President forcing him to lecture the residents.

“I do not want this kind of chaos in my meetings. United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is a party that embraces order. Allow the leaders to make their speeches and if they have not performed, wait and deal with them in the next general election by voting them out.”
Reports indicate that supporters of Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok and Senator Hillary Sigei clashed shortly before President Ruto arrived on Saturday thus the commotion that was witnessed after the arrival of the President.
A section of kenyans have however expressed their concerns after the arrests asking what the youths will be charged with upon arrest and arraignment for heckling in rallies.
Most kenyans have claimed that cheering in rallies is a normal occurrence and the President should take it easy and not order arrests on youths who may not be charged due to freedom of expression as provided by the law.
