The Ministry of Education has released a statement to National Schools that will require parents and guardians to pay their school fees on eCitizen.
In a statement released on 31st January 2024, signed by Education Permanent Secretary Belio Kipsang, the Ministry of Education says that this will be in accordance with the government’s directive that all government payments should be made through eCitizen.
Schools have been advised to submit their bank details to ensure that they are integrated with the eCitizen Payment system by or on February 6th 2024 to ensure successful integration.

“The Directorate of eCitizen in partnership with Information Communication Technology Authority (ICTA) Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy and the National Treasury have been coordinating to the onboarding of all government services on eCitizen platform to enhance service delivery.”
“As part of compliance with the requirements, it is directed that parents/guardians make fee payments for their learners in your institutions through this platform.”
The directive proceeded to give details that the institutions through the Principals that they will submit for the accounts to be integrated with eCitizen.
Details Schools Will Provide for payment of fees on eCitizen:
- Account Name
- Bank
- Account Number
- Bank Code
- Branch Code.

According to the directive, the Principals will submit the aforementioned details to the office of the Director General State department for basic education.
