South Mugirango Member of Parliament, Sylvanus Osoro has hit back at Simba Arati for what he claims is plundering county resources. Speaking on one of the media outlet, Osoro said that Arati is endangering security of Kisii residents by running a militia disguised as Bodaboda operators.
This comes after GSU officers raided Governor Aratis office earlier on Monday. They blocked Arati from accessing his office. Later Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases denied the raid. He argued that the stadium was a public place. Therefore it was not unusual for officers to patrol the town, saying they had a right to be anywhere.
Osoro accused Arati of focusing on politics intead of working for the people. He also asked Arati to show how the Ksh 13 Billion released by the National government to Kisii County was used.
“You are using goons in the name of bodaboda riders to harass and intimidate those you believe are not supporting you. You are preventing genuine bodaboda riders from accessing Kisii town in the name of protecting your goons. We cannot sit back and allow that to happen. We have a government that must protect its people.”
Osoro and Arati have had a history of conflict between them. In abuild up to elections, they shocked kenyans when they staged a fight in Kisii infront of the now President. This was after Arati made comments that didn’t sit well with Osoro.
According to the MP, he claimed he has credible information that the Kisii Governor is planning to sponsor demonstrations in Kisii town this week. He said that more GSU presence is expected to protect the safety of people and property.
“We’ve heard what you are planning to do. Let me tell you my brother, we won’t allow any demonstrations when our students are sitting for their exams. We will send in more GSU officers and make sure that nothing like that happens. You cannot play with the government.”
The ODM party has condemned what they term as harassment and intimidation against leaders who don’t support the government. In a statement released by the party, they claimed Kenya Kwanza is using state resources to blackmail and intimidate governors.
