The Osoro-Arati saga has taken another turn after Majority whip and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro threatened to sue the Kisii Governor Simba Arati for defamation.
Through a demand letter dated January 17 from Osoro’s lawyer Adrian Kamotho Njenga, he has given the Governor two days to apologise and retract statements he made against the MP.
“Please take notice that Silvanus Osoro Onyiegon(our client) on whose express instructions we proceed to address you, intends to commence rigorous legal action against you, for atrocious conduct, defamation, vilification, publication of malicious falsehoods and abominable character assassination.”

This comes after Kisii Governor rubbished the reconciliation meeting called by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu who wanted to call a truce on the two sides who have brought heat to the county politics.
According to Osoro, failure for the governor to publicly issue an apology to the Member Of Parliament, his legal team will sue and build a case against him on grounds of defamation.
“Take further notice that unless you absolutely offset the demand herein within two (2) days from the date hereof, we have strict instructions to commence high voltage legal proceedings against you, without any further reference to you whatsoever at your own risks as to costs and other consequences arising therefrom and incidental thereto.”
Osoro accused Arati of maligning his name and sending goons to attack his constituents at Nyabisase-Nyakembene road, with the intent to restrain them from grading and graveling the road.

The two have been having a push and pull since 2020 with each side trying to flex muscles on the other. However, the latest developments have turned chaotic with shots being involved and civilians injured in the process.
Sylvanus Osoro has however distanced himself from the recent happenings and with the latest move, the Osoro-Arati saga continues to heat up with leaders calling for peace in the region.
