Education PS Belio Kipsang has said that the official school re-opening date is 8th January 2024. This will mark the normal resuming of normal school calendar.
The school calendar was interrupted by the Corona virus outbreak. This disrupted the normal school calendar that saw an irregular opening and closing of schools. Schools were even forced to run four terms in a calendar year, up from the normal three.
Kipsang also congratulated teachers for their continued support throughout the irregular calendar. Thus embrace the return of official School Re-Opening Date as 8th next year.
Speaking during the release, Kipsang also took time to thank invigilators who made extra efforts to ensure that exam papers reached on various schools that they were asigned. Notably, those who even had to cross rivers on foot to deliver examination papers.
There was also a moment of silence in honour of two examinations officer that died during this year’s exam exercise.

This year marks the end of the 8-4-4 system as the Education system in kenya is transitioning to the Competency based curriculum. The 2023 KCPE candidates were the last set of candidates that sat for KCPE.
The Education Ministry has said that the KCPE 2023 Examination Release was done early to ensure that parents and guardians get time to prepare for their children.
This was also done to allow the government ample time to place learners into various schools before the offivial re-opening of schools. This exercise according to the Ministry will be done before Christmas.
Parents and guardians are urged to ensure that they prepare finances and their children early to avoid last minute rush come January 2024.
The government has also assured of the 100% transition policy to ensure all candidates will be placed in secondary schools. All parents have been urged to take this advantage and enroll their children to Form 1.
