A police officer has been hospitalised after a gang that they had gone to hunt down forced him to smoke two rolls of bhang alone.
According to reports, the police officer was in patrol with his colleagues to track down the drug traffickers when they caught him and forced two rolls down his lungs.
Witnesses say that the gang was pissed due to the frequent rounds by different police officers who take bribes to look the other way for the trade to continue at Kayole Area, Murang’a County.
Upon explaining to the officers that his colleagues had passed by earlier and collected the bribe, the officer could hear none of it, insisting he is not leaving till he gets the bribe.
However, a confrontation occured between the officers and the gang members and after a heated argument, the other two officers fled the scene leaving their colleagues in the hands of the irritated gang.
That’s when they roughed the officer up and after a beating, they forced him to smoke two rolls of bhang for his freedon. He was however admitted in Murang’a Level Five hospital in critical condition after the incident.
Confirming the incident, Murang’a East Police Commander Mary Wakuu said that search would be conducted to apprehend the suspect and they had initiated an investigations immediately.

“It is an area that we must clean up. I also warn the police to execute their duties with prudence and integrity. All these matters will be investigated, and a comprehensive report will be prepared.”
This comes as the police continue to crack down the illegal trade that has now threatened to consume youths that have been hooked onto it. However, investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
