The National Youth Service (NYS) has listed the NYS requirements in 2024 for any youth to join the National Youth Service training this year.
According to NYS, the recruitment exercise for the paramilitary training force will be undertaken in every sub-county across all 47 counties in Kenya to ensure that every kenyan youth who wants to join the service is given an equal opportunity to access the recruitment exercise.
However, the National Youth Service did not make public the recruitment date saying that they will announce the date of the exercise in due time through every available media outlet.

NYS Requirements In 2024 For Successful Recruitment.
- Youths willing to join NYS must be citizens of Kenya by birth. Any other types of citizens do not qualify for the recruitment.
- Age requirements for the successful recruitment must be between 18 and 24 years old. This is to ensure that the mandate of NYS that is to train transform and empower youths is achieved.
- Interested applicants must have attained a minimum grade of D (plain) or its equivalent in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)
- Medically, youths interested in the recruitment exercise must be both medically and physically fit. This is to ensure they go through the process without complications.
- Youths should possess a certificate of good conduct issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is mandatory. This is to ensure that he/she must have not been convicted of a criminal offence

The government has announced that it has come up with an exit strategy of youths completing the NYS programme by offering job opportunities both locally and internationally. This is through labour export to labour demanding countries that President William Ruto has signed deals with.
Locally, President William Ruto directed that NYS trainees be given priority during police and military recruitment.
