The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced NYS recruitment exercise for willing youths across the country starting next month.
According to the National Youth Service, the NYS recruitment exercise will start from February 5 to February 9, 2024 and will be open to both male and female youths across the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, January 23rd, NYS listed the requirements for those willing to pertake the exercise and the benefits of completion of the NYS recruitment exercise.
NYS RECRUITMENT EXERCISE REQUIREMENTS.
According to NYS, the interested applicants should have the following minimum requirements for qualifications:
- Should be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective sub-county of recruitment and they should be aged 18 to 24 years.
- They should have a mean Grade of D plain and above in KCSE
- Should be in possession of original National Identity Card and academic Certificates (avail of one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment centre).
- The candidate should be in possession of a certificate of Good Conduct and must be ready to undergo medical check-ups during and after the recruitment exercise.
- Candidates should be prepared to undergo rigorous physical training and should be prepared to give voluntary service to the Nation in any part of Kenya.
According to NYS, successful candidates will report for the NYS paramilitary Course at NYS College, Gilgil and NYSTTI Naivasha on dates and times specified in their respective calling letters to be issued.
ADVANTAGES OF GOING THROUGH NYS RECRUITMENT EXERCISE
Some of the advantages of joining the NYS and completing the training exercise include:
- Easier Pathway to Kenya’s Police and Army. This is according to President William Ruto’s directive stating that 80% of discipline forces will recruit from NYS.
- Job Opportunities for NYS graduates abroad in both the United Kingdom and other European countries that require their skills.
NYS noted that orphans who meet the qualification requirements above will be given special preference subject to the production of sufficient documentary proof such as parents’ death Certificates or burial permits.
Persons with disability are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their sub-counties and centres provided they can withstand the rigorous physical training.
