A Nyeri woman has come out to explain how WhatsApp Messages that she thought were harmless landed her in prison.
According to Patricia Kinyua, the Nyeri based businesswoman, she was having a marital conflict with her then husband and her anger got the best of her and before she knew it, she was being charged.
Speaking to the media, Patricia says that her marriage was going well at first and they even had their first born child. However, like many other relationships, they had their challenges.

Patricia says that she was temperamental during the onset of these challenges and this forced her husband to seek restraining orders as well as apply to file for divorce.
However, things took an unexpected turn when she engaged her husband’s lawyers in an insult hullabaloo in WhatsApp through threatening messages.
“When his lawyer came to serve me with those documents, he did it in a very unprofessional way. They gave the neighbours to furnish me with the documents, which didn’t happen. I came to find out about the information two months later.”
This did not sit well with Patricia who decided to confront the law firm and their lawyers to ask why they didn’t serve her directly.
“I later found out that he (lawyer) is the one who wrote the document. There arose a heated conversation and out of anger I insulted and threatened him through WhatsApp audios.”

Thinking that the situation had cooled down, Patricia moved on with her life. Two months later, she was arrested by police officers after the lawyer filed a report.
“It was on a Saturday, I heard a knock and upon opening, the officers placed me in handcuffs. In court, the charges were read and I filed for bail. The magistrate told me that my charges were quite serious. They gave me a Ksh1 million bond or cash bail of Ksh500,000.”
