Eight people have been confirmed dead in an early Sunday morning along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway Accident.
According to reports, the Nakuru-Eldoret accident happened aftet a trailer rammed into a 14-seater matatu that had been stopped by traffic police at the Eveready Roundabout in Nakuru.
However, the conductor of the 14- seater matatu managed to escape unhurt after jumping out of the matatu after noticing the incoming trailer before it rammed into the matatu.

According to various sources, the Kaptembwa police who were allegedly receiving a bribe, were forced to run after angry Kenyans confronted them, blaming them for the accident that happened a distance beyond the place they were inspecting motorists.
Witnesses say that the police were receiving the bribes and failed to monitor vehicles on the road that could have prevented the accident from happening
“Corruption and greed for 50 bob by our traffic police officers taking bribes from Matatus has led to deaths of many innocent souls.”
Reports from the scene of the accident confirm that the survivors were rushed to Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital, where they are receiving extensive treatment while casualties were taken to the hospital morgue.

Other police officers are said to have arrived on the scene to assess the damage and control the situation that was threatening to get out of hand. Members of the public have also blocked incoming vehicles thus causing a traffic snarl-up in the highway.
Police have said that they have launched investigations into the cause of the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway Accident and check on ways to avert more accidents that have been on the rampant in the recent past.
Motorists have been advised to be careful on the road to ensure safe arrival of destinations especially this festive season.
