More questions than answers has forced a new team of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to be dispatched to Eldoret where they will launch fresh investigations into the accident that claimed Kiptum’s life and that of his coach.
According to reports, the new team of detectives sealed off the scene of Kiptum’s Accident on Monday afternoon as they seek to leave no stone unturned.
Reports indicate that there is more than what meets the eye and that the new team will ensure that everything is counterchecked thoroughly before the world champion is laid to rest

After securing the scene of accident, the team later proceeded to Kiptum’s home in Chepsaimo, Keiyo South Constituency in Elgeyo Marakwet where they conducted more investigations
Elgeyo Marakwet County Criminal Investigations Officer, Joshua Chelal confirmed receiving the team but failed to disclose any details stemming from the investigations.
This comes after it was established that the four mysterious men who visited Kiptum’s home were former Uasin Gishu MCAs who had been allegedly sent by a Chinese company to negotiate a sponsorship deal.
The detectives are expected to consider the motives of these four men who allegedly went to inquire about the marathoner.
This comes days after the only survivor in the accident, Sharon Kosgei recorded a statement with the police detailing how and what led to the ill fated accident.

Sharon explained that she had warned the marathoner of the car veering off the road before the accident occurred, with Kiptum being unable to steer the vehicle back on track.
The new team expected to consider all angles in the case including motives, statements and probable cause that led to the unfortunate accident.
