The new Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has issued a statement over the cause of conflict between Masengeli who was in acting capacity and Justice Lawrence Mugambi.
In a statement after being sworn in as Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja noted that the cause of conflict between Masengeli and Mugambi which was the Kitengela Three were not in police custody as alleged.
According to Kanja, the Kitengela Three; the activist and two brothers who were avducted in Kitengela were not abducted by police and asked anyone who has the information about their abductions to come forward.

“We don’t have the Kitengela 3 with us. A report was made and we have an active investigation ongoing. We are urging the people of Kenya with any information on the same to come forward,” Kanja said in a statement.
Backing the statement, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohammed said that they are conducting investigations to bring the abductors of the Kitengela siblings and activist to book.
“We (the Police) are not holding the Kitengela 3. Abduction is a penal code offense that we as NPS deal with decisively by investigating, profiling and taking the perpetrators before court.”
The Kitengela Three are the reason and cause of conflict between Masengeli and Justice Lawrence Mugambi who summoned him to explain the whereabouts of the three who were allegedly abducted by police.

However, in a response to the court before his sentencing, Masengeli claimed that the Kitengela victims of abductions were not under police custody but the Judge was not satisfied because he summoned to explain in person.
