A Naivasha road accident that happened on Monday morning after a matatu collided with a lorry claimed 5 lives and many injured.
According to reports, the five passengers dies on the spot as the others are in critical condition. This was caused by a miscalculation by the Passenger Service Vehicle (PSV) that led to the collision from the back.
The accident occurred at the Flyover section on your way to Naivasha. The sacco confirmed the number of casualties saying its not the official police report as they are still investigating
“5 people died on the spot. This is, however, not the police report as they are carrying out their own investigations.”

According to the PSV managing Sacco, the vehicle was en route to Nairobi. However, upon reaching Kinungi, near the flyover, a lorry carrying cabbages, experienced brake failure and unexpectedly reversed, colliding with the matatu.
Policr officers promptly arrived at the scene to evaluate the situation. This is after the collision that led to build up of traffic along the highway. However, the police responded quickly and arrived the scene to take over the situation and manage traffic.
According to witnesses, the matatu driver was over speeding before the accident. This was the preliminary report by witnesses who were at the scene. This then can be the potential cause of the early Monday morning accident.
However, bodies of the deceased were moved to the nearby morgue and the injured were quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.
This year alone, 3,760 people have lost their lives in various accidents across the country. This is according to the National Transport and Safety Authority report. Drivers are therefore urged to drive safely during this christmas period and avoid overspeeding.
