The National Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has taken over licensing programs. The entity has set NACADA Alcohol Licensing Fees at Ksh. 1 Million for all alcohol traders to acquire licence.
This has been done to ensure a successful fight against drug abuse in the country as NACADA aims to tame illegal importers. This they said on Wednesday, 22nd of November 2023.
NACADA said that all companies engaging in the import and export of alcoholic drinks will have to pay this licence fee. Failure to which, the government will take legal actions against such individuals and businesses.

Previously, the licencing functions were done under the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee. The Committee was responsible in giving out licenses and permits for alcogol business in the country. However, Nacada has said that it’s taking over the licensing operations.
In a statement, NACADA said that the traders will be required to pay up to 1M depending on the ammount of alcohol imported into the country.
Traders importing or exporting one million litres will be required to pay an annual Ksh1 million licencing fee to the government. From 500,000 litres to 999,999 litres, traders will pay Ksh5000,000 while for any amount below that the licencing fee will cost Ksh250,000.
According to the government entity, the licence will be processed within 14 days of application. Application shall be done by downloading the applicform from NACADA website. After filling, they should submit to the appointed legal officer.
You’ll only be required to pay the NACADA Alcohol Licensing Fees ammount after the committee approves your request for the licence. After which the licence will be ready for collection within 14 days.
Traders will be required to pick their licenses from the NACADA offices after the applicant has been informed that the licence is ready for collection.
