Police have raised alarm after a murder convict who was serving his sentence at Manyani Maximum Prison in Taita Taveta County went missing on Tuesday, April 2nd.
According to reports, the convict Samuel Njule Maghanga, who is 28 years was serving 30 years in jail for murder prior to his prison escape that has sent panic among wardens at the prison.
Categorised as one of the most secure and safe correctional facilities in the country, it’s still unclear how the convict managed to plan and execute his prison escape without being exposed.

It’s said that the wardens and officials at the maximum famcility found discovered his escape on Wednesday 3rd at around 7 AM after conducting their headcount operation at the facility.
It is suspected that the convict might have either hatched a plan with one of the wardens who was on duty to succeed in his escape plan or snuck out at unknown time.
A search was immediately conducted in the vicinity of the prison in vain prompting the officers to send a team of police officers to the home of missing convict in efforts to trace and re-arrest him to Manyani
No valuable information about him was found by the team after interrogating his family nor did they find any presence of the convict. However, more efforts are still underway to locate the missing convict as questions linger on how he managed to beat the system to make his escape.

Meanwhile, officers who took over the case commenced their investigations by talking to the prison wardens who were on duty during the escape as part of the probe into the incident.
