Mysterious men who visited and Inquired about Kiptum days before his death have been arrested, Police Confirm.
According to reports, the police arrested three out of four men who visited Kiptum’s home four days before the accident and inquired about Kiptum and his whereabouts without identifying themselves.
This comes after Kiptum’s father reported on Monday that there was more to his son’s death than just an accident, claiming that even four men visited him inquiring about Kiptum but refused to identify themselves or the motive of the visit.
Confirming the arrest, Sub-county Commander Keiyo South Abdullahi Dahir said that one suspect is still at large but they have nabbed the three in Elgeyo Marakwet and are detained in Kaptagat Police station.
However, the Sub County Commander said that the trio will be transferred to the County Criminal Investigations Officer, Elgeyo Marakwet for further questioning..
“What made us to look for the four suspects is the allegation made by the father of the dead, we never had any prior allegation or report.”
The police have also confirmed that the vehicle which the four individuals drove to the compound has also been apprehended and is in police custody.
Kiptum’s father has also identified the three after the arrestbwas made in a parade to determine whether they were the people that visited him at his home.
The visit which was conducted at Chepsamo village, Kaptarakwa ward, Keiyo South Constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County four days before his tragic death had raised eyebrows as the marathoner’s father had termed the visit as suspicious
This comes after the police vehicle inspection revealed that Kiptum’s car was intact and had no mechanical problems prior to his death, raising more questions than answers. But police will release more information after questioning.
