Members of Parliament stormed out of parliament on Tuesday ending the proceedings pre-maturely over government’s delay to release CDF funds.
While shouting “no CDF no recess” were demanding the release of the CDF funds whose delay they said would affect the disbursement of bursaries to their respective constituents.
The lawmakers were on schedule to go on recess but they were heard shouting No Funds, No Recess as they tried to make their voices heard outside the chambers.

Addressing what the scuffle is about, Nyando MP Jared Okello said:
“It is now six months down the line, the government is always supporting its Executive programmes to the detriment of CDF. So what we’re saying is that we have suspended all sittings and government businesses until CDF is expended to our schools.”
“In January, new students are joining Form One, there are those who are continuing in high school, so we’re saying government must provide money now, not later.”
The recess is set on December 18, 2023 and resume sittings on January 28, 2024. According to MPs, they have to demand the release of CDF funds now and not later.
Revolting MPs saying that they have to use the remaining time to 18th to get the funds released to CDF funds kitty. Failure to which, they will have no platform to air out their grievances untill February when the house resumes.
This being the second time the MPs are pushing for the government to release the CDF funds. The same scenario happened in February this year.
