Mombasa residents are still in shock after tremors reported on Tuesday were confirmed to be of a ship explosion in mombasa docked in the port.
The ship was docked near the African Marine Terminal in Liwatoni, Likoni, Mombasa County and was an oil tanker undergoing repairs when the explosion occurred.
The loud ship explosion in mombasa reportedly caused buildings in the Town to tremble. This shocked residents and prompted them together with business owners in the city to record videos of smoke up after the explosion.

According to confirmed reports, the ship has been identified as the East Wind II and has been partly damaged since parts of the vessel were affected by the explosion.
However, the number of casualties have not yet been fully identified as per the time of the publication but reports indicate that the fire department has arrived the scene and rescue operations are currently underway as they continue to establish the real cause of the explosion.
Therefore, the fire has since been contained as the Kenya Airports Authority continue to investigate deeper on what transpired before the explosion.

Mombasa residents remain a shocked people as they confirm that the trembling out of the explosion caused panic as they thought of something worse due to their proximity to the ocean.
But officials have since reassured them that everything is under control as they continue to establish the causes and investigate more into the matter.
