Mixed reactions have ensued online after Mumias East MP Peter Salasya announced his 2027 move after serving as the Member of Parliament, Mumias East.
According to Salasya, He is noow ready to serve the people of Kakamega as the Governor to take over from David Barasa, the current Governor and locking horns with other political heavyweights interested in the seat.
Salasya who has been in loggerheads with several Kakamega and Western politicians at large, has revealed his plans, hence the reason why there has been recent rubbing the shoulders the wrong way.

Revealing through his X platform, Salasya said: “It’s now official I will be vying for Governor.” a statement that has caused mixed reactions after recent controversies surrounding the Mumias East MP.
With an active case in court against the recent attack on a local Member of County Assembly, Salasya was released on a Ksh. 50,000 cadhbail required to answer charges of assault against the MCA
People have questioned his public decisions that have seen him being criticised for his actions against fellow leaders and the public at large.
However, Peter Salasya is confident and ready to serve the people of Kakamega as their Governor. He has said that anyone who wants to go against him should meet him at the ballot in 2027.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale will also be eying the seat in 2027 and this has caused a rift. According to Salasya, his recent woes have been tailored by Khalwale and Barasa due to his interest in the Kakamega’s top seat saying they have no following.
