Former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has yet again landed another state job just days after she rejected President William Ruto’s appointment as a member of Nairobi Rivers Commission.
According to a gazette notice dated Friday 8th November, Millicent Omanga has been appointed as a board member of the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAP FUND) for a period of three years.
The appointment which was made by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi on Friday was also named alongside Samuel Kariuki Maina and Beatrice Kones who were also appointed to the board as members together with Millicent Omanga.

“Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— Samwel Kariuki Maina, Beatrice Kones, Millicent Nyaboke, to be members of the Board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund, for three (3) years, with effect from the 8th November 2024,” read the notice in part.
LAP FUND is regulated by the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), and it is one of the oldest retirement benefits schemes in Kenya and has over 70,000 members. LAPFUND is a State Corporation established in 1960 by an Act of Parliament.
Omanga’s new role comes days after she declined President William Ruto’s appointment to the Nairobi Rivers Commission, citing personal reasons where she was set to replace former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu in the board.
“I’m deeply honoured and grateful to H.E. William Ruto for the trust you’ve shown in appointing me to serve on the Nairobi Rivers Commission. It’s truly a privilege to be considered for such a vital role in improving our beloved Nairobi’s environment and public health; however, after careful consideration, I must respectfully decline the appointment due to personal reasons.”

The former Nominated Senator is yet to comment on her latest appointment to indicate whether she will take the job or she is still entangled to her personal reasons preventing her to serve in any capacity.
