Margaret Nyakang’o, the controller of budget has been arrested in connection to a complaint made against her dating back to 2016 before she became the controller of budget.
Nyakang’o and 10 others are supposed to face charges including conspiracy to defraud contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code. This includes operating a Sacco without a Licence Contrary to Section 24 as read with Section 66 of the Sacco Societies Act, 2008, forgery and uttering a false document c/s 353 of the Penal Code.
She became a state officer in 2020 when she was appointed as the controller of budget. Things seems to be taking a turn on her as a complaint dating back to 2016 had her arrested.

According to reports, Margaret Nyakang’o was at a public event where the officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) trailed and arrested her.
The other 10 co-accused persons are still being traced with efforts to bring them to book underway.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions approved the charges in a letter to the DCI on November 30 and the efforts to trace her kicked off since then till she was apprehended at the public event.
