Former Uasin Gishu Governor and current Senator Jackson Mandago is set to be arrested and arraigned over the Finland Scholarship saga that saw kenyan students lose millions of money.
This comes after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) approved the inquiry file forwarded by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for Mandago and three other senior officials of the county to be prosecuted.
Among the charges that Mandago will face include conspiracy to commit an offense of economic crime, abuse of office, breach of trust, fraudulent acquisition of public property and uttering a false document contrary to Section 353 of the Penal Code.

According to EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, the commission was conducting investigation into the Finland Scholarship saga and having found enough evidence to charge him, they forwarded the file to the DPP who has now given a greenlight to charge the Senator.
Among other co-accused persons include; Joseph Maritim, Joshua Lelei, Meshack Rono and Jacob Sisey, the Director of Skill Dove Ltd. These are the people who allegedly had a hand together with Mandago in the Finland saga.
According to an official report, students totalling to 125 channeled their money to Mandago and co, in the hopes to fly out to Canada and Finland for higher education. The ammount in question runs to Ksh. 1.1 Billion.

Investigations by EACC reveal that Ksh.284.4 million was paid to universities in Finland and Canada, Ksh.315.9 million paid to foreign agencies, and Ksh.50.7 million paid to local agencies. Another Ksh.308.9 million and Ksh.74.2 million was however withdrawn in cash.
After the go ahead by the DPP, the EACC is now seeking to arrest the former governor who oversaw these fraudulent transactions during his term as the Uasin Gishu Governor.
