Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Secretary General Akelo Misori has finally broken his silence days after he was accused of betrayal over strike withdrawal.
Speaking to the press after a section of KUPPET Officials accused Akelo Misori of betrayal, the Secretary General mantained that the strike withdrawal was not his call.
Misori who announced the decision to call off the strike mantained that the strike was called off by the Executive Council after wide consultations after the Teachers Service Commission agreed to meet their demands.

“The mandate we executed was not the mandate of Akelo, Akelo speaks on behalf of the executive board. County Executive members agreed to give the Executive Board to negotiate and make decisions on behalf.”
According to Misori, county executive members who are members of the National Governing Council gave the executive board the authority to negotiate with the Teachers Service Commission and sign a return to work formula.
Misori said he is surprised that some of the KUPPET members who have the executive board authority to negotiate with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) are the people who are now faulting the board for calling off the strike.
The Secretary General said that the union leadership managed to reach an agreement with the TSC on a number of issues which made the teachers go on strike and therefore teachers should trust their decision.

This comes after regional KUPPET leaders called for the resignation of Misori over the decision to call off the strike without their knowledge saying that that amounts to betrayal from the SG.
