The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has confirmed that three counties will experience power blackout on Tuesday and for the better part of Tuesday 12th December 2023.
This comes a day after the nationwide power blackout that caused controversy on Sunday. According to reports, the power blackout was caused by a fault affecting the power system. However, the following counties will experience power blackout on Tuesday.
MACHAKOS COUNTY:- Entire EPZA area
Areas to be affected include: Nodor, African Coffee, Newwide Garments, Nguo Yetu, Admin Block, Meru Greens, Mas Intimates, Incubator 1 and 2, Ken Meat and other adjacent customers in the area.

PARTS OF NYERI COUNTY:– Iriaini, Kairuthi parts.
Areas to experience KPLC Power blackout include; Othaya Boys High School, Gathumbi Market, Waihara market, Kabebero Market, Kihuri Market, Kihuri Water Treatment, Thokoini TBC, Thuti TBC, Thunguri market, Iriaini Girls Secondary school, Kiahagu Secondary, Kiriti TBC, Karega TBC, Kiandemi Village and other adjacent customers in the areas aforementioned above.
PARTS OF TRANS NZOIA COUNTY:- Sirwo and Kaplamai parts.
Areas to be affected will be; Sirwo, Chisare Kaplamai, Nyakinywa, Kipsingori, Kimoson, Kaplamai, Kapchepsir, Motosiet, Mateket, Kachibora, Kiptoi, Kapkekei, Kapkarwa, Kimendi, Mwangaza, Kamendi and other adjacent customers in the aforementioned areas above.
The system interruptions in the areas mentioned will be affecting power supply for the better part of the day and KPLC customers are advised to seek alternative power supply for the day
Power Blackout on Tuesday will occur from approximately 8 AM to 5PM in the evening.
However, the Energy Cabinet Secretary has assured Kenyans that the power outage experienced will be solved by load shedding system that the ministry is planning to implement as a long lasting solution to power interruptions.
