A section of Kisii leaders have called out the Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu in what they termed as unfair targeting by the Ministry. The leaders call out machogu over exam cheating
This is after the ministry intensified it’s hunt for examination cheats. Several students, Principals and invigilators from the region have been implicated over the same.
This has prompted the outcry from some leaders who claim that the crackdown is unfairly targeting the region.
This was done by senators affiliated by the Azimio coalition led by Okong’o Omogeni, the Nyamira Senator. They claimed that the allegations had no basis and instilled more fear to students in the region.
Speaking in West Mugirango Constituency at the New Dawn SDA Church, the Senators blamed the CS for unfair treatment. They also questioned the possibility of the region recording the highest number of exam cheats.
“Machogu hails from here and he understands us since he has been brought up in this region. We will be referred to as exam cheats until when? He is the Education CS and we expect him to defend Gusii Community. We have done nothing wrong.”
Kilifi Senator who was present at the event supported the Nyamira Senator’s sentiments adding that the allegations were painting the region in the wrong light. He added that the government is determined to disappoint students from the region.
Several invigilators, exam coordinators and students have been busted in the ongoing KCSE exams from the region. This includes center managers who are the principals. The shocking being the Nyambaria Principal Suspended For Alleged Exam Irregularity
Two principals from Nyamira county have also been so far suspended. The ministry has intensified their operations in this year’s exams to ensure Integrity and minimise cheating cases.
