Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has nominated a new deputy governor a week after former deputy governor was impeached by the senate.
According to reports, Simba Arati has nominated county public service board chair Elijah Obebo to be his new deputy governor in Kisii County.
The communication was made by Kisii Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba during a sitting on Wednesday where the Governor presented the name for consideration by the Kisii Members of the County Assembly.

This comes after former kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda was upheld the decision by Kisii county MCA to impeach Monda at the senate on grounds of abuse of office, gross violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct and crimes under the law.
The Governor, Simba Arati was expected to nominate a new deputy governor within 14 days since the impeachment and the name will go trhrough vetting in the county assembly before being sworn in as the new deputy governor.
With the presentation of Elijah Obebo as the new deputy, he will go through MCA vetting before being sworn in within 60 days from today.

Obebo who has been serving as the county public service board chair will be appearing before the MCAs for vetting before he is declared the new deputy governor, Kisii County.
Meanwhile, former deputy governor Robert Monda has filed his Impeachment appeal before Judge Teresa Odera at the Kisii Law Courts late Tuesday,a day before Arati nominated Obebo as his new deputy.
The judge marked March 26, 2024 as the hearing date to determine if the process was conclusively done or there are worthy grounds in which the appeal will anchor. Till then, the county assembly will proceed to vet the new deputy.
