Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda was on Thursday, February 29, 2024, impeached from office.
Kisii County Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who have been rallying to push Robert Monda out of office finally made it happen with 53 members voting in favour of his ouster
According to reports, Robert Monda who deputises Kisii Governor Simba Arati has been accused of bribery, and abuse of power, among other accusations, which formed the basis of the impeachment motion.
This cones after Ichuni MCA Wycliffe Siocha filed an impeachment motion against Monda, accusing him of graft charges, which he denied while appearing before the Assembly on Thursday morning.

It’s claimed that Monda received a bribe from a youth to offer an employment opportunity in the county, an accusation that the DG denied.
Despite there being mobile money transactions and bank statement evidence, Monda stated that the money received from the youth’s father was repayment for a loan he had granted him.
“They had visited me in my house and later, I and the father withdrew to talk issues as friends when I asked if he could refund the money I had extended to him to enable me to travel out of which he obliged and instructed some, including his son and wife to facilitate the refund to me and which they did from the cop bank to my account.”
However 15 members of tge county assembly voted against the impeachment motion and cited lack of democracy in how the impeachment plot was hatched and executed, arguing that it was unfair.

He further denied having influenced the hiring at the Gusii Water and Sanitation Company, after a part of the money was forwarded to the Managing Director at the company.
“I did make the effort to have the money transferred to me so that I could direct it to one Gladys Aminga who I had contracted to do transportation work for me
