Kisii county has of recent experienced political wrangles triggered by leaders affiliated with the region that has led to high political tension in the county.
According to the latest reports, Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in Kisii county have filed a motion to impeach Deputy Governor Dr. Robert Monda.
The motionfiled in Kisii County Assembly was tabled by Ichuni ward MCA, Wycliffe Siocha which according to reports 51 out of 69 MCAs are said to have signed and seconded the move to have the Deputy Governor impeached.

The mover of the notice of motion accuses the deputy governor of going against and undermining the constitution thus forming the basis of the impeachment.
However, Siocha did not reveal the exact charges against the Deputy Governor, saying it will be pre-emptying the expected impeachment motion. Therefore added that it will be discussed on the floor.
This comes as more and more leaders in the region continue the push and pull in a game of who’s more powerful than the other, the latest being between the Governor, Simba Arati and Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.
Machogu condemned Arati, with the Education CS suggesting that the governor had influenced the youth to instigate chaos at the event after youths booed Machogu when he was reading President William Ruto’s speech at Kisii Polytechnic grounds during the burial of the institution’s head, Daniel Nyariki.

However, Arati responded accusing the CS of collaborating with rogue police officers to disrupt the peace in Kisii County criticising Kisii County Commissioner Bowen for his remarks at the funeral.
Previously, Arati has also rubbed shoulders with South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro whom they have been having issues with since the run up to the 2022 elections.
