Kiptum’s Father Calls For Investigations Into Son’s Death
Kiptum’s father has called for the government to conduct thorough investigations into his son’s tragic death that happened on Sunday night.
According to Kiptum’s father, he received four strange visitors four days prior to his son’s death inquiring about Kiptum but did not identify themselves or the reason as to why they were inquiring about him.
“Unidentified people came to my house and told me that they were Kenyans. They wanted to know about Kiptum but couldn’t explain why and who they were.”

According to him, he did not think much into it then but now he thinks the visit has everything to do with his son’s tragic death. He has therefore called for the government to investigate the accident.
“Kiptum was my only child. Now he has left me and my grandchildren. I do not know what to do. If the government can, it should help us. We are stuck now with no one who can help us.”
Kiptum’s father says that he was watching the evening news when he first received a call that a car belonging to his son had been spotted having been involved in an accident in the outskirts of Eldoret.
However, according to Police repoets, Kiptum was driving his car when he lost control and veered off the road, landing into a ditch. The accident claimed both his life and that of his coach.
A lady companion who was in the car with the world marathon record holder and his coach survived the accident after sustaining serious injuries and was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
She was later treated and released from hospital as the bodies were transfered to Eldoret morgue.
