It’s another good news for Kelvin Kiptum this week after the World Athletic. A list of 11 athletes have been nominated by the athletics board on athletes that have made impact this year.
Kelvin Kiptum made history on Sunday after smashing The Eliud Kipchoge record to become the newly crowned world fastest marathoner. He broke a record by running for 2:00:35 beating Kipchoge’s Record by 34 seconds
The eleven nominees in the Men’s Athlete of the year include :
- Neeraj Chopra, IND, javelin:- World champion and Asian Games champion
- Ryan Crouser, USA, shot put-: World champion and World record holder
- Mondo Duplantis, SWE, pole vault-: World champion and Diamond League champion with world record
- Soufiane El Bakkali, MAR, 3000m steeplechase-: World champion and is undefeated in six finals
- Jakob Ingebrigtsen, NOR, 1500m/mile/5000m-: World 5000m champion and 1500m silver medallist including European records for 1500m, mile and 3000m
- Kelvin Kiptum, KEN, marathon-: London and Chicago Marathon winner and Marathon world record breaker
- Pierce LePage, CAN, decathlon:- World champion and World leader
- Noah Lyles, USA, 100m/200m:- World 100m and 200m champion, World leader and undefeated in six finals at 200m
- Alvaro Martin, ESP, race walk-: World 20km and 35km race walk champion. Also a World leader 20km race walk
- Miltiadis Tentoglou, long jump-:World champion for the European Indoor champion
- Karsten Warholm, NOR, 400m hurdles/400m-: World 400m hurdles champion
The 23 year old has a chance to lift the kenyan flag high if he becomes the finalist in this category. Voting will conclude on 28th of October with fans to vote online through the World Athletics social media platforms.
The world athletics family and World Athletics Council will vote throughthe email. The votes will count such that the Council will count for 50% of the results, World Athletics family and the public, who are fans will account for 25% each making the total vote.
