Kevin Kang’ethe Re-Arrested: Police have re-arrested Kevin Kang’ethe, a man wanted by the US government after committing a murder in the US and escaping into Kenya.
According to the police, Kevin Kang’ethe was re arrested in Ngong, Kajiado County after a dramatic escape from Muthaiga Police Station, something that police described as embarrassing to the Police Service.
Kevin Kang’ethe escaped last week as the Kenyan Government and the US was planning on how to conduct his extradition to the US through a court rulling to determine whether he will face murder charges of Margaret Mbitu in the US.
The police were forced to seek a warrant of arrest and the Milimani court chief magistrate Lucas Onyina issued a warrant of arrest against Kevin Kang’ethe to fast track his arrest.
This comes after a team of 31 special selected detectives were tasked with the hunt to re-arrest Kevin Kang’ethe, 40 who has been missing for five days now before his arrest last night.
However, his arrest came after his sister, presumed to have given him advise and orchestrated his escape from police custody was detained for 72 hours. However, Law Society of Kenya president described the action as a n advice from an attorney to client hence demanded for her release which happened yesterday.
His brother was also arrested alongside his girlfriend who were interrogated by the police to provide more information on the whereabouts of the 40 year old fugitive.
The arrest of his close allies and family members might have provided a pathway of the arrest of the 40 year old who was traced to Ngong in Kajiado County where he was escaping the long arm of the law.
Kang’ethe is set to be arraigned in court for a determination whether he will be extradited to the US or his murder case will be handled in Kenya.
