Kenyans have been put on high alert after the UK lists areas through her intelligence likely to experience of terror attacks. They listed several areas that will likely be targeted.
According to a notice released by the UK on 13th January, the travel advisory warned British citizens in the country to limit travels to certain places in the country.
This becomes the latest travel advisory on a foreign power against kenya. The advisory was published on the government’s website on Saturday warning citizens against all but essential travel to areas within 60km of Kenya’s border with Somalia.

UK Lists Areas Likely to Experience Terror Attacks In Kenya.
According to the UK advisory, areas likely to experience terror attacks include areas located along the Kenya-Somalia border, Eastern Garrisa, Mandera, Lamu, and Tana River.
This comes after the UK issued a similar travel advisory in December 2023. This was a week before President William Ruto delivered his remarks during the 60th Jamhuri Day Celebrations. However, the President reassured Kenyans that the country was safe and nothing to worry.
“As we continue to invest citizen’s resources into the security sector, we continue to expect continuous improvement in its overall capacity to keep our nation’s boundaries inviolable, our people’s lives and property safe and secure.”
However, the latest advisory comes in the wake of Dusit D2 complex terror attack that happened in the capital city Nairobi that took the country by storm and caught security agents by surprise.

“No travel can be guaranteed safe. If you choose to travel, research your destinations and get appropriate travel insurance. Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activities, and expenses in an emergency.”
Kenyans have therefore been encouraged to stay alert and vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police to ensure safety for all and prevention of terrorism in the country.
