Kenyans have raised concerns over M-Pesa Messages Being flagged as scam recently leading to customers experiencing deductions from their mpesa without confirmation message showing up.
According to reports, the redirection of M-Pesa Messages to spam folders has cost a bunch of individuals to send money twice thinking that the transaction has not gone through.
Most business owners have also raised the same issue claiming that m-pesa messages have not been showing as normal messages making them fault customers when in reality the messages are in spam folders.

Responding to the claims, Safaricom has issued a statement through their social media platforms explaining how to solve a problem that has now raised concerns among kenyans.
“Dear Customer, we have noticed that some of our customers are not receiving Safaricom and/or M-Pesa Messages. This issue is affecting Android phones who are using third party SMS apps.”
The telco went ahead and provided a procedure on how to solve this issue.
How To Solve M-Pesa Messages Being flagged As scam
- Open Your SMS app and check the spam and blocked folder.
- Find Safaricom and M-Pesa Messages and unblock it.
- All subsequent messages will go to the main inbox.

“Additionally, customers using Android smartphones can select the default SMS app as it does not have a spam folder.”
This comes days after Safaricom said that from 5th February 2024,the Communication company will not be allowing money transfers to unregistered mobile numbers.
“Effective February 5th 2024, you will no longer be able to send money from M-Pesa to unregistered mobile money customers. As a registered mobile money customer, you will be able to send and receive money across different mobile money providers such as Airtel and T-Kash.”
