Breaking News: Kenya Airways (KQ) on Sunday, December 17, confirmed an incident where a plane en route to Kigali from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was forced to turn back due to low visibility
This is the second breaking news incident in three days that planes have been forced to turn back to the Kenyan International Airport due to various mechanical and weather conditions.
According to Kenya Airways, Flight KQ478 attempted to land in Kigali twice but the extreme weather conditions couldn’t allow the plane to land safely thus forced the plane to fly back to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)

“After two unsuccessful attempts to land, the crew elected to return to Nairobi for the safety of passengers and crew onboard.The flight landed in Nairobi safely at around 09.45 hours.”
This becomes the second incident after another flight KQ310 was forced to turn back to JKIA on 15th December enroute Dubai. According to the statement by Kenya Airways, the air traffic control encountered a tyre debris believed to be of flight KQ310 during a regular runway inspection.
However, the plane was contacted and turned back to Nairobi 2 hours later and landed safely without any further incidents. Passengers were provided with accommodations and rebooked for the next flight to. Dubai.

This further complicates things at the kenyan international airport as more issues and controversies continue to surround JKIA.
According to Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the government is working to ensure that things change in the airport as it has experienced the worst months in the recent past. With power failure in three occasions, leaking roof and now, turn back jets.
