Lady Justice Grace Nzioka revealed effects of Monica Kimani’s death to her family’s health and the business that she was running before her untimely death.
While delivering her sentence on Jowie Irungu, the man who was found guilty of the murder of the Nairobi businesswoman in 2018, Justice Nzioka took her time to explain effects of Monica Kimani’s death and what the murder has caused so far.
Speaking moments before sentencing Jowie Irungu to death, Nzioka read a report claiming that Monica Kimani’s mother is said to have suffered prolonged depression and a stroke, months after the death of her only daughter.

“During the interview with the deceased mother, the probation officer was forced to pause several times as she kept breaking down and wailing, to allow her to come down.”
The report further noted that Monica’s younger brother secluded himself from the public and quit frequent appearances in public spaces as a result of the trauma experienced following his sister’s murder
The family also noted that Monica Kimani was the breadwinner of the family through her business that she was doing and that her death affected them. However, they said that no ammount of compensation could bring Monica back.
The family also claimed that Monica Kimani’s business scrambled after her death and it’s due to the deathbof their kin that led to the crumble of the once solid business that was managed by Monica.

With a nail in Jowie’s coffin, the probation officer that was assigned to him concluded that Jowie lacks stable partner relationships. He has anti-social personality patterns manifested by living on the edge. He is impulsive and a thrill seeker. He used anger or aggression to control others.
The officer further described Jowie as a thrill seeker, impulsive and manifesting anti-social behaviours manifested by living on the edge of life making it obvious for the judge to hand him the life sentence.
