The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has condemned and called for investigations and legal action against Mumias MP Peter Salasya threats he made to the judge.
Magistrate Gladys Kiama has pronounced a rulling that went against Salasya ordering the First time Member of Parliament to pay Ksh. 500,000 he owed in a small claims court. However, the angry salasya waited for the judge outside the court and threatened herto kill her.
Led by Chief Justice Martha Koome, the commision is now asking the relevant authorities including the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to conduct a speedy and impartial investigation into the matter.

“The Commission has deployed its team to the ground to conduct further investigations and engage the agencies handling the matter with a view of taking appropriate action in line with its mandate.”
“The Commission wishes to reiterate that the decisional independence of a Judge or Judicial Officers must be safeguarded at all times, and when litigants are aggrieved by the decision of the court, they may seek redress through the appellate process.”
In a statement by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) they are now asking the DCI to conduct thorough investigations and arrest the Member of Parliament.
“LSk urges the DCI to conduct a thorough, speedy, and impartial investigation to determine the facts surrounding the alleged threats. Judicial officers must be able to carry out their functions without fear of intimidation or threats while adhering strictly to the law”
Salasya through his X account recorded a video claiming that as an MP, he was busy working and the woman (Magistrate Gladys Kiama) should continue seeking media attention.
It’s also alleged that the MP called and sent threatening messages through WhatsApp and SMS to the magistrate. Due to the overwhelming tracks, peter Salasya threats might land him in jail.
