Jowie Irungu’s Sentencing Postponed
Justice Grace Nzioka has today, Friday 8th of March postponed Jowie Irungu’s sentencing on Monica Kimani’s murder case.
This comes after Jowie Irungu was found guilty of the murder of Nairobi businesswoman back in 2018 while his former girlfriend Jacque Maribe was exonerated of all charges that were levied against her.
In a ruling delivered on February 9, 2024, Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the security personnel committed the murder.
It was revealed that Jowie used another person’s identity card to access the apartments of Kimani on the fateful day. The judge noted that this action suggested that Jowie planned to commit the offence.

According to reports, lady Justice Grace Nzioka made the decision to postpone Jowie Irungu’s Sentencing to March 15th due to late filing of documents by all sides in the case.
Nzioka said that her decision was reached upon due to the late filing of submissions by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the victim’s family and Jowie’s lawyer.
Reports indicate that the ODPP filed its submissions (pre-sentencing report) last evening while the victim’s family filed its submissions on Friday morning. This means that Jowie’s legal team did not have time to respond to the submissions by the prosecution and Kimani’s family.
