The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has closed part of the airport after a fire incident was reported in the wee hours of Monday Morning.
According to reports by Kenya Airports Authority, JKIA has closed Terminal 1E after a fire incident that was caused by an electrical failure but was quickly contained before spreading further.
However, the Monday morning incident did not cause any casualties nor injuries as all people who were using the terminal and workers of thr airport have been marked safe after the incident

“Following this, power to Terminal 1E has been temporarily shut off as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all within our premises.”
The Airports Authority says the terminal will therefore remain shut as a precautionary measure and all flight operations at the terminal have been redirected to Terminal 1A until further notice.
“KAA is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers, staff, and stakeholders at our facilities and is taking all necessary steps to minimize disruptions and return to normal operations as swiftly as possible.”
Terminal 1E, that was affected by the fire incident is purely used for International Arrivals at the JKIA for visitors and kenyans jetting back into the country.

The Airports authority did not give exact timelines of the re opening of the terminal but said that they are working round the clock to ensure that operations resume as soon as possible.
At the time of this article, there were no reports of stranded passengers as all operations were redirected to other terminals as repairs commenced in order for the terminal to be back on operation.
