Immigration and Citizens Services Principal Secretary Prof. Julius Bitok has issued the latest update on the issues on stalled passport and delays in Nyayo house that have experienced delays.
Speaking on Sunday, Bitok said that the government has put in place measures to ensure Kenyans applying for passports get them within one month after application date.
According to Bitok update, its time that the government works on the issue of backlogs and delays in passport issuance that has in the recent past been an issue with kenyans lamenting over the delays.

The PS revealed that President William Ruto has instructed the Immigration department to make sure that the perennial delay at Nyayo House comes to an end with immediate effect.
“President Ruto ordered me to make sure that Kenyans get passports promptly. He told me he had talked with Ndindi Nyoro to make sure that we have enough resources to streamline the process.”
In addition, the PS said that the current backlog that includes kenyans who have already applied for passports and still waiting for them to get them within three months and work on new guidelines to ensure everyone gets a passport within a month from date of application.
“Therefore, in the next three months we shall end the delay and release passports on hold and ensure everyone gets their passport within a month of application.”

According to the PS, President William Ruto is pushing for the department to increase their printing activities to ensure more kenyans get passports to travel out of the country for job opportunities.
This comes after the immigration department said that there was a problem with the printing machine and it was doing everything possible to make it work, but this has remained an empty promise so far with most kenyans postponing or cancel their travels due to delays at the immigration.
