Pastor Ezekiel was summoned to appear before the senate to shed light on the Shakahola massacre. The massacre that led to the death of over 400 people was considered a religious cult that believers were encouraged to fast. Which led to their deaths.
The New Life ministries pastor has now claimed that he owns nothing as it is believed in the public. He says that everything he has belongs to the church. All his belongings are registered under the church name.
“There is no title deed under my name. Everything I own from my house to cars and watches are registered under the New Life Church.”
He has also stated that every project he has undertaken is fueled and belongs to the church. So there is no way he is wealthy as the media and the public claim.
Speaking about tithes and offerings, Ezekiel said that he has never forced any of his congregant to contribute or offer tithes. He said that his congregants willingly contribute to the church to build on projects and propell God’s work.
These tithes and offerings have been his major source of income that has supported over 100 needy students with scholarships in his church.
“There is no other way we get money from anyone in any other way, I have never taken money from a congregant at my church. I always tell them to present their offerings and tithes at the altar.”
Speaking about the church ideologies, the pastor has said that he believes tithes and offerings shouldn’t benefit the pastor alone. Instead should also benefit the needy in society. That he said he can give proof on how he has been helping the needy.
He also denied claims of owning a mortuary. He says he only linked up with Mackenzie when he wanted to buy Times TV which did not go through.
