The Teacher’s Service Commission is planning to conduct its TSC teachers promotion interviews as from December 4th all through to February. The interviews aims to fill a total of 36,053 vacancies announced in August.
Interviews will kick off immediately after the conclusion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams. They have been categorised into three phases for an effective and transparent exercise. The phases are incorporated in moths, that is the December, January and February phases.
The first phase dubbed the Sub County phase will start as the name suggests, at the Sub Counties. This level is for Primary School teachers aiming to move from Grade C1 to Grade C5. This phase will happen between December 4th to December 15th 2023.
Positions such as Headteacher in regular and Special Needs Primary Schools at T-Scale 1. Deputy Headteacher II in regular primary schools at T-Scale 9, Senior Teacher I in regular and SNE primary schools at T-Scale 8. Lastly, Senior Teacher II in regular and SNE primary schools at T-Scale 7.
Second phase is set to happen from January 4th to January 16th 2024. This phase aims to promote post primary school teachers seeking promotions from C3 to D1. It will be conducted at the County Level.
Among those targeted are the Deputy Principal III in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 11. Followed by Senior Master III in regular secondary schools and Senior Lecturer IV in Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) at T-Scale 9. Senior Master IV in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 9 will also be considered.
The Third and last phase of the promotion exercise will happen between February 4th to February 16th 2023. However, this category will target the Post Primary administrators aiming to move from Grade D2 to D5.
Promotions will target Chief Principal in regular secondary schools at T-Scale 15. Senior Principal at T-Scale 14. Principal at T-Scale 13, Deputy Principal II at T-Scale 12 and Senior Lecturer I at T-Scale 12. All these will be done at the regional level
However, those teachers seeking promotions are encouraged to check on their category and prepare for the interviews. This will include all valid documentation as required by the TSC.
