His Majesty Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla are planning a state visit to Kenya from October 31st to November 3rd. President Ruto has said that Kenya is honoured to be the first commonwealth state to receive the King since his coronation.
But how has kenya prepared to host the king?
Sakaja Bans Hawking
Nairobi being the first city that the King will land, the Nairobi County governor has banned hawking. This is in a bid to bring order within the capital. During the consultative meeting in City Hall, Sakaja said the new directive will be enforced from tomorrow.
“There will be no hawking on the roads. In fact, I’m enforcing it from tomorrow morning. Even around the bus station, I will not allow that”

William Ruto took time to take a walk around the Uhuru gardens ahead of Charles’ visit. This is after he came back from an official visit in Saudi Arabia. He was accompanied by Defense CS, Aden Duale, Chief of Defense Francis Ogolla and other government officials including Governor Sakaja.
Mudavadi Hosts British High Commissioner
The Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi hosted the British High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan. He provided updates about the details of the King’s visit. In a statement, Mudavadi said the country is ready to host the King in his visit.
“Our nation is eagerly looking forward to warmly welcoming HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camila to Kenya. This visit not only reflects the strong historical ties between our countries but also presents an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and explore areas of mutual interest.”
Ruto Holds talks with British High Commissioner.
On Monday, President William Ruto hosted the British High Commissioner to Kenya in State House Nairobi to discuss the visit. In a statement, Ruto said that Kenya is honoured to receive His Majesty King Charles III.
“Kenya is honoured that King Charles III and Queen Camilla have chosen our country for their first visit to a Commonwealth nation. This choice is a testament to the depth of our relations and the mutually beneficial nature of our partnership. The visit is a significant opportunity to enhance our collaboration in various areas of shared interest.”
King Charles III will be in the country as from next week Tuesday, more preparations are ongoing as the nation prepares for his visit.
