A househelp in Eastleigh, Nairobi has been charged after CCTV revealed her ill intentions. According to reports, the suspect is believed to have committed the offence on October 25th 2023. The 24 year old had worked for only 5 days when she committed the crime.
The HIV+ suspect was caught in CCTV tape spitting saliva into her employer food that she had cooked. She has however been charged with deliberate transmission of terminal illness.
The court was made to believe that the suspect knowingly of her status deliberately did the action in a bid to transmit the illness. This is an offence in accordance with Article 26(a) of the sexual offences act of 2006.
Hailing from Vihiga county, she had worked for 5 days when her employer decided to review the CCTV cameras. The employer was surprised to notice in an occasion where she spat on the food. According to the complainant, several videos revealed the suspect repeatedly doing the act.
After reporting the matter to the Pangani Police Station, the officers conducted a search in her bag and recovered the ARVs she’s been using. This then led to her arrest and arraignment.
She was then presented before the Principal Magistrate Eric Mutunga denied the charges against her and was remanded until October 31st. The suspect was hired through a domestic worker’s agency based in South C, Nairobi.
It’s unclear her intentions or what led to her actions. But in only five days she worked, salary issue can’t be the case. But only time will tell as to whether she will come out to explain what led to her actions. The complainant family is still in shock as they realised her actions through CCTV after consuming the meals she served more than once.
She will presented again in court tomorrow for the subsequent proceedings.
