A woman who lodged a case at the Eldoret High Court has been frustrated after the court declined to stop Kiptum’s burial as she had suggested.
According to the woman by the name Edna Owuor, she has a son with the late Marathon Record Holder Kelvin Kiptum and was asking the court to stop the burial until she is recognised by the family.
However, Justice Wananda declined to stop the burial following the application by Edna Owuor through her lawyer Joseph Oyaro.

The 22 year old claims that they have a one-year and 7-month child whose rights may be violated if the burial is not stopped.
Edna had appeared in court on Wednesday with the said son claiming that the burial should stop arguing that they had not involved her in burial arrangements and therefore her son is left out.
With her were some of the DNA results that she had come to present to the court to confirm the paternity test for the late Marathon runner
However, Justice Wananda said that the burial arrangements had gone on for some time with heavy costs involved and it would be unfair to stop the interment. Thus declined to stop Kiptum’s burial.
Kiptum, who is set to be buried today was involved in a road accident together with his Rwandese coach Hakizimana who was buried yesterday in Rwanda. According to reports, kenya donated Ksh. 5 Million to the family of the coach during the burial ceremony attended by Sports CS Ababu Namwamba.
However, Kiptum’s burial procession is underway with the late Kiptum’s remains being ferried from the Morgue in Eldoret town.
