Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa has revoked the appointment of two Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital members after the CEO resigned earlier.
According to reports, Barasa revoked the appointment of Kavinya Mwendwa and Gladys Ogallo as members of KU Hospital in a gazette notice dated December 3 which she said will be effective immediately.
“The Cabinet Secretary for Health, revokes the appointment of Kavinya Mwendwa and Gladys Ogallo, as members of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, with effect from the December 3, 2024.”

The action by the Health Ministry comes Moments after CEO resigned over protests at the facility over Grievances raised which include alleged sexual harassment, long working hours, and waiver of staff medical bills for those in critical care departments, among others.
Health workers at the facility were protesting working conditions at the Level 6 facility as they called for urgent intervention from the Ministry of Health to save the situation that they said was overwhelming and critical at that stage.
Reports from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed indicate that President William Ruto had received and accepted the resignation of KUTRRH Board Chairperson Olive Mugenda.
Further, Isaac Kamau, who was recently appointed by the board as Acting CEO, has been released from his duties and is directed to report to the Ministry of Health Headquarters as Zainab Gura takes over as the acting CEO

It’s still unclear that withe the revocation and appointment of the new CEO at the facility will cool the temperatures down after they paralysed operations at the Level 6 Facility earlier today.
