Haiti activists are said to have expressed concerns about Kenya Police conduct after watching them in action during the Finance Bill 2024 protests in Nairobi CBD.
In a letter sent to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International and the African Union, the Human rights group in Haiti has expressed fear over the conduct of Kenyan police.

According to the group, the Kenya Police are unprofessional in discharging their duties, for instance, harassment of journalists, arrest of some protesters and use of excessive force to ensure order in Nairobi.
“We have observed with dismay the harassment of journalists while performing their duties, the use of teargas against peaceful protesters, and the arrest of activists such as Hanifa Farsafi, who were exercising their rights in response to the financial bill of 2024 imposed by President Ruto.”
The group expressed concerns that if that’s how the kenya police conduct their operations against their own citizens in their own country, then they fear for the worst in the Haiti operation that is expected to harbour Kenyan Police in a few weeks.
“Our concern extends beyond the borders of Kenya, as we are deeply troubled by the potential implications this behavior may have on the people of Haiti. Given the recent examples of police brutality in Kenya, we fear that similar oppressive tactics could be employed against the Haitian people.”
